Check the app’s terms first
AI video apps differ: some keep commercial use for paid plans, some add a watermark on cheaper plans. Character App’s Terms give you ownership of your Outputs and allow personal or commercial use on every plan, including Free, subject to each model provider’s terms, your rights in the Inputs, the Content Policy and the law.
Every plan has no watermark. Read the Terms for the exact wording.
Own what you upload
A video is only as clear as its inputs. Photos, reference pictures and clips you upload must be yours or used with permission. For Star in a clip that means a clip you filmed or have the rights to, with people who agree to AI processing.
Music matters too: Slideshow Story music comes from the house library inside the app. Don’t lay a commercial song you don’t license over an export.
Get consent for real faces
Your own likeness is fine. Someone else’s needs their permission, and identifiable public figures are not allowed. An original Character avoids the question entirely. More in Can I use my own photo and likeness?.
Label it where the platform asks
Platforms ask you to label realistic AI-made content. A label is not a restriction on selling; it is a disclosure. See How to post AI videos on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
Common mistakes
Assuming a paid plan clears the rights to a clip or photo you uploaded. It does not.
Using a recognisable person, or a public figure, without consent.
Adding licensed music you don’t have rights to after export.
