How to make a D&D and TTRPG character
Write your character the way you would describe them at the table: ancestry, class, one scar, one piece of gear. Character App builds them as a Character who stays on-model, then draws portraits and films Scenes of the moments your party actually played. Do the same for the whole party and the GM's villain. It makes Images and Clips, not virtual tabletop tokens or exports for Roll20 or Foundry.

Same Character, any Look
Meet Milo Fenn, an original Character made for these pages: 6 Looks, one face. Every World has its own Look; put the same Character into another World and the Character underneath stays the same.

07 All six Looks
Original character made for Character App’s character pages. Clips filmed with H3 Max Turbo, the Clip model in Character App; Looks drawn with gpt-image-2.5 from one portrait.
Brisa lives in your Characters
Every Character you make keeps its Looks in one place, one for each World’s Look. Use Brisa in a new World and the Cast brings the same face into that World’s Look, in every Scene and Clip.

Portraits are the start, not the point
TTRPG art tools are good at one portrait. The trouble arrives at session twelve, when the ranger gets a new cloak and the new picture looks like her cousin. In Character App each party member is a Character with fixed anchors, so Brisa Thornvale, half-orc ranger, keeps her sage-green skin, small tusks, copper-beaded braid and fox-fur mantle in every portrait and every filmed Scene. You direct the moment; the face stays hers. Character App is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast or Paizo.
Turn the character sheet into anchors
The stat block tells you what she can do. The anchors tell the Studio what she looks like.
Ancestry and build
Half-orc, tall, broad-shouldered. The body reads before the face in a wide battle shot.
One visible mark
A split eyebrow, a burned hand, the tattoo from the backstory the GM keeps forgetting.
Signature gear
The longbow, the moss-green cloak, the dented holy symbol. Gear anchors a Character across Looks.
A Look for the campaign
Painterly fantasy, stylized 3D or anime. One Look per World keeps the whole party matching.
Film the session recap
After a session, write the recap as Scenes: the tavern toast, the cliff-top ambush, the failed persuasion roll that started a war. Each Scene becomes a short Clip. Keep the party and the GM's recurring villain in one World, and the next recap arrives with the same faces. Use your own homebrew names and places; published settings and their characters belong to someone else.
What this doesn't do
No VTT tokens, no token frames, no exports to Roll20, Foundry or any other virtual tabletop, and no stat blocks. You get Images and Clips you can export for the group chat, the session-zero pitch or the campaign wiki. Keep your tokens where they already live; bring the party here when the story deserves to move.

From one line to a Character on film
- 1
Describe each party member
Ancestry, class, one mark, signature gear, or a player's own photo with their permission. Each becomes a Character.
- 2
Build the campaign World
The tavern, the road, the villain's tower. Built once, so every recap happens somewhere the table recognises.
- 3
Film the sessions
Write the best moments as Scenes, draw the Images, and film the Clips you want with a plan.
Questions, answered
Still curious? Using your own photo and the guides go deeper.
Can I use this for D&D, Pathfinder or any tabletop system?
Yes. It works from your description, not a rules system, so any game works, homebrew included. Keep names and designs original rather than copying published characters. Character App is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast or Paizo.
Does it export a VTT token for Roll20 or Foundry?
No. It makes portraits as Images and, if you want, filmed Clips. It doesn't make token files or connect to virtual tabletops.
Can I build portraits for my whole party?
Yes. Each party member is a Character in the same Cast, so they look like they belong together and stay on-model.
Can I turn a session into a short filmed recap?
Yes. Write the key moments as Scenes, draw the Images, and film the Clips you want with a plan.
Can the GM's villains and NPCs be Characters too?
Yes. Recurring villains, NPCs and monsters are Characters like anyone else, so the lich in session three is the lich in session thirty.
Can I play myself, from my own photo?
Yes, with your own photo. Another player's photo needs their permission.
What does it cost?
